Ingredients
Made with only blueberries, sugar, lemons, and water this is such a simple recipe!
And, you can use either fresh or frozen blueberries so you can enjoy this recipe all year round. Try mixing up different sweeteners as well. Honey, agave, or even sugar substitutes for a sugar-free version all work great.
How to Make
Step 1: Peel and juice lemons
Peel and juice 4-5 lemons, which is about ¾ cup lemon juice. You can add an extra 1/4 cup lemon juice if you want it extra tart.
Step 2: Make Simple Syrup
To make the sugar syrup, add the blueberries, sugar, 1 cup water, and lemon peels. Any extra peels can be used as garnish. Heat the mixture until the sugar has dissolved and the blueberries start to pop, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool down.
Step 3: strain Simple Syrup
Once cool, use fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth strain out the berries and lemon peel from the simple syrup.
Step 4: Add water and Chill
Add the blueberry lemon simple syrup to a large pitcher and add 4 cups of cold water. Then, chill the mixture in the fridge. You can also add ice to cool it down and serve immediately.
Step 5: EnjoY
When chilled, pour over ice and enjoy this tangy and fresh blueberry lemonade!
